Bill Laurance is a Grammy Award-winning pianist and composer. At the RNCM Bill workshopped new compositions created by The Untold Orchestra for a support slot alongside the RNCM Session Orchestra. While touring his solo piano album, Cables, we made contact with Bill to suggest a collaboration producing new arrangements of songs from this album, accompanied by an orchestra. This lead to new arrangements, created by Josh Poole, which were filmed and recorded at the NIAMOS centre by the Untold team, and resulted in the release of Cables and Constance. Following this we worked with Bill on a remotely-recorded project, Zeal EP, during the pandemic, which then lead to a full concert of newly arranged orchestral takes on Bill’s discography at Union Chapel for EFG London Jazz Festival. On April 26th 2024, the latest collaboration will see the release of an album of entirely new compositions from Bill and Josh for piano, synths and strings, recorded at Blueprint Studios, Manchester.

“Overall, it was a joyous celebration of what we’ve missed for much of this last 20 months. Music. Togetherness. Creativity. And joy.”
